Friday night was a terrible night for us. Our Terri passed away. Terri for anyone that knows us was not only our best friend but our first baby girl. She was everything to us. This has been a very difficult weekend for us. Terri battled bladder cancer for three years. She was a very strong dog. When she was first diagnosed we were devasted thinking it was the end. With both conventional and holistic treatment Terri gave us three more wonderful years. We enjoyed every moment knowing she had this disease we never knew when the end would come. We took her to her favorite hiking trails and wildflower fields. We took her to her favorite store in town Fetch for her treats. Terri loved Fetch so much she would want to go on Monday when they were closed. She would not take no for an answer and actually knock on the door waiting for the owner to appear. For anyone that knew Terri she left a lasting impression. People would come to the store just to meet Terri after seeing her in Romantic Homes magazine or hearing about her from someone in town. Terri gave us a love that will last forever.
We were proud that Terri beat the odds and lived three more years. She had a wonderful doctor that never gave up on her even until the end. We don't know how old Terri was since she was a rescue. We rescued her from a kill shelter in the Bronx where she had only a few days left to live. They considered her bad because she did not like other dogs. Terri was just a tough girl. She came into our lives on August 31, 2001 and she rescued us. It is never easy to say goodbye to your baby girl and best friend. There is a hole in our heart that can never be filled. We just know she is now in peace and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again.
